It Is a DIY Kind Of Day 😊

Solution. What a country girl does when a permanent solution hasn’t materialized yet.
Clothesline 1A

First hard cheese in years. Cheddar goat milk of course courtesy
Of Miss Willa

In the Rickki Carrol of New England cheesemaking recipe book
this one is titled “Heavenly Ricotta Cheese “ aka whey Ricotta. Although the book name is pretty accurate as it is amazing and pretty much a whole different offerings than the traditional Whole Milk
Ricotta.

Sisters . Well not by litter lol. Just by association

Part of my bounty from last Wednesday farmers market. Beets, French radishes new crop not spiced up from heat, a cute squash, one Bok Choy and about half  pound  of the most succulent tasty green beans since our last garden.

Perfect spot for a DIY clothesline! Nice to see you putting Miss Willa's milk to such good use. :) And it looks like you have a terrific farmers market! Just the thing to have while waiting on getting a good garden in. :)

Love that clothesline. I missed the last farmer's market here and totally regret it. Your bounty you bought looks great.

Thanks Leigh!
The next town about 11 miles up the mountain from us has a sweet little farmers market. Interesting that one of the largest vendors farms about an eighth of a mile from me. And they welcome drop ins on a call ahead basis. I have taken advantage of that when I couldn’t get up the mountain one time.

Got lovely whey Ricotta and just salted the cheddar this morning. Excited 😊

A girls' gotta do what a girls gotta do, as far as clotheslines go. Cheese is looking tasty. I've never made cheese before. Looks like fun to do. Great looking vegetables! Your dogs look so relaxed. Take care!

Thanks Lynne!

Things are really popping. I am going up to Sonora for the monthly guild meeting on Tuesday.

Got more use out of my DIY clothes line today. The cheese will be waxed tomorrow.

Come back soon 😊

I love that clothesline! I so envy your cheesemaking - now that I no longer have my cow, I am not inclined to go back to it. I think that the whey ricotta is my all-time favorite ricotta. Ooooh, and cheddar!

Thanks Susan. You have been so busy of late I appreciate hearing from you.

I know what you mean . Having your own dairy animals is a blessing in many ways. But also a huge responsibility. Then there is the guilt when one has so much on their plate that using all the milk in a timely fashion is not on the radar. And if one is a single person sometimes the biggest challenge is simply using up all that wonderful goodness is an up hill climb.

I plan to milk Miss Willa on through the winter. Make more hard cheese and use the rest as I can. However I am not breeding this year since I want to get a full year plus under my belt and then assess the wisdom of that or returning to my original plan of no more kids. Simply due to the limitations it presents and there are at least two out of state trips I would like to make sometime after the one year mark. Finding a person to farm sit who is competent let alone can and will milk is priceless and difficult.
