Doesn’t look like much. However great things often begin with a patch of bare dirt and two pieces of wood. Day 1.
Digging holes always a good sign. Means business is getting done. Four holes were dug. The constitution crew consists of Jessica and Nash.
Jessica and I have been friends for 22 of her 24 years. Her family and I became friends when they answered an ad I placed to sell some Nubians. Nash will become family on November 8th. When he and Jess tie the knot. She is the youngest of three sisters.

Moving right along all walls and the roof in place . Inside Jess is putting in the railing to keep the eggs from rolling out of the laying boxes.
Wow window trim and access to the egg boxes from the outside. Windows are covered with hardware cloth for extra safety from predators. '

The temporary coop run is the old 10X10 foot dog kennel they had in an empty stall of the "mare" motel. May make it permanent by adding another four panels and roof. Or may go with 5 foot no climb and roof. At any rate the permanent fencing won't be in until after the wedding.

They are! Love that girl to bunches. They both grew up in families that gave their children life skills. Nash’s family owns several lumber yards 😊
Thanks Leigh. I failed to add both windows still will get covers which can be opened in good weather but covered in high winds and rain/snow .
Also a ramp to be attached to the 4 foot door which will give me access to clean with wheelbarrow while the chickens are limited to the run area.

They do work well. This is their third repurposed life from the intended one as a dog kennel.
Not sure if he was teasing or not but a friend of mine , now has passed, called this a Navajo roost. Seeing that he was from that tribe I figured he knew what he spoke of. It sure is nifty!
Now I see, what you meant, about neighbors maybe having coup envy!!!!!! Fantastic job! Very knowledgeable young people. Super friends!!!!!!

Lynne you are right on. I think the best part of the whole process was watching this young couple work together with an abundance of mutual respect, patient and laughter. I give their marriage a high score on the “forever” scale. ❤️
That is a fantastic chicken coop! Your girls (and boys) will thrive in it. And what a lovely young couple. It's so very nice to see such harmony. Looks like important things are getting checked off of the list.
